About the Team


This Federal Government Agency Section is looking for a Policy Officer at the EL1 or high performing APS 6 level to lead or assist in a quality review of reference data used on the Medical Costs Finder, as well as other data-related activities.


The objective of this Section is to deliver, an online tool to help patients and GPs identify the typical costs of commonly sought in-hospital and out-of-hospital specialist services in the private health system.


The work of the team is data driven as the tool draws on many different datasets, including MBS (Medicare Benefits Schedule) data and business generated definitions.


This Policy Officer role will support the accuracy and maintenance of the data and the considerations around the addition of new data and datasets.


The following capabilities are required:

  • Demonstrated use of sound judgement and problemsolving skills.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain positive working relationships, and to build collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to show initiative and ownership, while being able to take direction and feedback from their supervisor.

Familiarity with medical terminology would be an advantage.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Strong attention to detail, organisational and coordination skills in order to deliver high quality outcomes within tight timeframes.
  • Stakeholder engagement regarding complex matters.
  • Sound interpersonal, judgement and strategic thinking skills.
  • Strong computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office.

Active Baseline Clearance or Ability to obtain
