Indigeco is supporting a major Federal Government Department in sourcing multiple APS6 and EL1 Policy Officers on an
ongoing permanent basis.

These roles involve the development of the National Plan and the implementation of the Action Plan.

EL1 Policy Officer


The department is looking for strong Policy Officers who contribute effectively to core policy activities, have sound communication skills, are flexible and adaptable in response to changing priorities, and contribute to a positive, high-performing team culture.


  • Strong project management, grant, and procurement experience
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic and/or operational policy, and provide accurate advice including briefs and reports on progress and identification of risks and sensitivities
  • Ability to cultivate productive and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and to negotiate and influence
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrate an understanding of the values and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures:

  • Knowledge of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Aboriginal Community-Controlled and Community-led Organisations.
  • Must understand the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and
  • Proven culturally appropriate engagement and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of policies or programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, or
  • Direct interaction with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.

APS6 Policy Officer

  • Strong project management, grant, and procurement experience
  • Effective internal and external stakeholder management skills, including the ability to negotiate and influence
  • Ability to provide accurate and specialised advice including anticipating problems and contributing to issues management
  • Ability to undertake research, analysis, and the evaluation of data.
Demonstrate an understanding of the values and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures:

  • Knowledge of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Aboriginal Community-Controlled and Community-led Organisations.
  • Must have an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and
