Australia's most trusted charity, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides 24-hour emergency aeromedical and primary health care services to those who live, work and travel in rural and remote Australia.


Serving South Australia and the Northern Territory, the team at RFDS Central Operations exist to support happier and healthier Australians no matter where they live, work or play.

Following a significant growth and maturation period within RFDSCO, we are now seeking to grow our Fundraising and Donor Development Team to meet our ambitious fundraising targets into 2024 and beyond

About this Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Fundraising Manager, as our inaugural Major Gift Specialist, you will be inspired and supported to increase the level of corporate and family foundation giving revenue stream for RFDSCO

Specifically, you will be motivated to:

  • Develop and implement strategies to identify and solicit Private Ancillary Funds (PAFs) and Community Trusts, including building relationships with influencers and members of PAFs, trusts and foundations.
  • Develop a prospect cultivation strategy for RFDSCO, encompassing correspondence, events, meetings, and briefings with possible opportunities.
  • Tailor the case, content and copy development of funding proposals to meet donor interest.
  • Write letters of intent, grant proposals and create multiyear budgets for funding solicitations.

Please note this position may require you to:

  • Travel to rural and remote areas of South Australia and Northern Territory to complete marketing and fundraising activities.
  • Work outside of standard business hours (7am 7pm) on occasion particularly during peak fundraising periods.

About You

You are:

  • Knowledgeable and experienced in fundraising, major giving, partnership giving programs and the operations of PAFs as they relate to the fundraising environment.
  • Organised with impeccable time management skills you can manage programs and initiatives from concept to completion to time, cost and quality requirements.
  • An exemplary communicator your written skills are second to none and you thrive when completing compelling letters of intent and grant proposals.
  • Computer literate with demonstrated knowledge of Fundraising CRM software.

To be considered for the role you require:

  • Membership
  • or membership eligibility
  • to the Fundraising Institute of Australia.
  • Current and valid drivers licence issued from an Australian State or Territory.
