Our Client is a growing medical device technology company who are making breakthroughs with their novel qPCR diagnostics. As part of the Research team, you will work on key projects to deliver new products to critical clinical trials and one day into commercialisation.

What will you be doing?

As the Senior Laboratory Technician you will design and conduct experiments and R&D studies to develop new infectious disease products. Each day will include a balance of laboratory tasks, data analysis, reporting and mentoring junior staff.
Key tasks of this role include:

  • Performing manual and automated DNA/RNA extraction and quantitation
  • Designing and conducting qPCR experiments to meet project requirements
  • Data analysis and trouble shooting
  • Preparing and revising documents such as SOPs, test plans, specifications and study protocols.

Note, this position is a 12 month full-time contract with potential for extension.

What do you need?

If you love designing and conducting experiments with the capability to trouble shoot and formulate solutions, this is the role for you For this position it is essential that you bring hands-on experience with qPCR and a strong understanding of infectious diseases and/or clinical microbiology.
Key requirements of this role include:

  • A PhD qualification (or near completion) with at least 5 years' experience with qPCR, molecular microbiology, virology or molecular biology
  • Extensive experience in a broad range of molecular techniques including DNA/RNA extraction and qPCR/real-time PCR
  • Demonstrated experience designing R&D studies with the ability to make decisions independently
  • An understanding of regulatory requirements for IVD products such as TGA, FDA, IVDR
  • Excellent organisational skills with meticulous record keeping and scientific writing capabilities.
