The Front of House Duty Manager will work as part of the Front of House (FOH) team to manage the smooth operation of the venues and the site before, during and after shows.


The role will require an ability to manage a team and be aware of expected movements of audiences and performers, facilitating the fast turnaround between shows and to be the face of Assembly to audience members and performers.


Front of House Duty Managers should be experienced within a theatre environment and have experiencing seating large venues quickly and with grace, the ability to lead a team and respond in a fast paced environment is required.


We operate 5 venue hubs so need a large team of strong customer focused and team members who are confident working with the public, are bright, bubbly and approachable.


Roles are available in Edinburgh from Mid-July for the Jazz Festival and Food Festival and roll through until the end of August to cover the Fringe or from Early August for the Fringe dates only.


Key responsibilities include:

  • The care and supervision of the public before, during and after performances. To ensure their comfort, safety, and ensure their experience with Assembly Festival is a memorable one and of a high standard.
  • Working with the Venue Manager to supervise all front of house staff and ensure they are well informed at all times.
  • Ensuring merchandise sales are well managed and opportunities are maximised with performing companies and monies taken are all reconciled and dealt with appropriately.
  • Ensuring ticket scanning/ripping operations are running smoothly and ticket counts are reported correctly.
  • Logging incidents and administering first aid or referring to on site first aiders.
  • Following opening and closing procedures as per the venue documentation.
  • Ensuring safe evacuation of the entire FOH area of the building (members of the public and staff) in the event of an emergency; liaison with emergency services where required.
  • Ensuring guests with disabilities are escorted to the correct seating within the auditorium and staff are trained to manage guests with specific needs (where venue allows).
  • To comply with and ensure others comply with Assembly's Health and Safety and other policies.
  • To be familiar with the fire alarm system for the venues (training will be provided).
  • Attending team meetings and training sessions as appropriate.
Rate of pay from £14.50 per hour, depending on venue and experience.

Hours:
up to 48h/week


Staff are required to be 18+ due to the licensed nature of our sites, and have a legal right to work in the UK, no Visas are able to be offered for these roles.
