About the role
The VEC is recruiting for an Investigator in our Electoral Compliance team.
The Electoral Compliance team leads the VEC's regulatory compliance activities pursuant to the Electoral Act 2002.

Our investigators are responsible for undertaking investigations of potential breaches of electoral law, under supervision and guidance of the Lead Investigator and the Manager, Electoral Compliance.

Outcomes of investigations may involve taking enforcement action consistent with our regulatory approach. Investigators also participate and lead projects targeted at identifying and reducing opportunities for non-compliance with electoral law.

A VEC Investigator performs their duties by Commissioner's delegation in accordance with sections 9 and 19 and by appointment as a Compliance Officer in accordance with section 222A of the Electoral Act 2002.

A duly delegated and appointed person must maintain a good reputation, having regard to character, honesty and integrity.
About the Electoral Integrity and Regulation Branch

The Electoral Integrity and Regulation (EIR) Branch administers the VEC's electoral integrity, compliance, enforcement and regulatory activities, and oversees Victoria's political funding and disclosure laws.

The EIR Branch informs and supports the planning and delivery of the VEC's electoral functions to enhance and protect the integrity of Victoria's electoral processes.

The EIR Branch coordinates disputes or litigation involving the Electoral Commissioner and partners closely with all stakeholders to ensure the successful conduct of electoral programs within a highly regulated environment.
