About you:
You are a qualified Registered Nurse with advanced clinical practice skills, with the ability to deliver a high-quality service with the primary focus on achievement of organisational goals for the good of others, ability to effectively manage an Elective Surgery waitlist portfolio, which facilitates the provision of quality evidence-based patient care.
You can incorporate quality improvement activities and validated research into nursing practice and to identify specific areas for clinical and management research and you are confident to act as an advocate for nursing in a broad context and across disciplines using positive role modelling and adherence to corporate values.
Your opportunity:
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (Elective Surgery Case Manager) is a Registered Nurse who is responsible for working with medical consultants, outpatient clinics, and the perioperative team in managing patients on the elective surgery wait list.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (Elective Surgery Case Manager) role covers a multitude of specialities.To maintain contemporaneous knowledge of each speciality there is an expectation that the successful candidate rotates between the portfolios.
The role will manage patients across their perioperative journey to optimise their treatment time and ensuring efficient utilisation of QH resources, this will ensure effective coordination of patient care within the multi-disciplinary team to minimise complications, cancellations, and delays.
Your role:
Manage theatre waitlists utilising National Elective Surgery Targets and Elective Surgery Services Implementations standards to inform decisions.
Collaborate with surgical, anaesthetic, and perioperative staff to ensure theatre sessions are allocated to meet waitlist demands and achieve Key Performance Indicators, both Local and State.
Provide effective communication, consultation, and negotiation throughout the service to ensure the involvement of stakeholders.Implementation and education of Elective Surgery governance for all personnel – medical, nursing, and administrative.
Regularly audit waitlists to support timely, effective, and efficient allocation of resources for procedural activity in support of patient requirements.
