About you:

You are an experienced Nursing Director confident to lead an increasingly complex health environment with integrity and a focus on achieving goals related to health improvements by delivering high quality services. You have expert knowledge in strategic planning for the provision of Mental Health and ATODS services within a multidisciplinary framework, including the development and implementation of standards and business plans. You possess demonstrated expertise in the coordination of human, material, and financial resources utilising contemporary management principles for the delivery of quality cost effective nursing care and strategic leadership, guidance, and support of nursing staff in a multidisciplinary environment.

Your opportunity:

The MHAODS Nursing Director is responsible for the professional management of all inpatient and community MHAODS nursing staff. The position is responsible for the strategic planning and development needs of all nurses from an organisational, physical, and human resource perspective in accordance with the CHHHS organisational and strategic objectives, and the legislative and policy direction of Queensland Department of Health.

The MHAODS Nursing Director is operationally accountable for the MHAODS inpatient and community services (as per portfolio directed by MHAODS Service Director) to ensure equitable access to high quality consumer care that complies with the ACHS accreditation standards through effective utilisation of human and financial resources and the use of a risk management approach to care delivery and evaluation.

Your role:

  • Provide expert leadership and management to build and maintain a high functioning, high performing team through positive role-modelling behaviours and attitudes, highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including consultation, liaison, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Lead and encourage the Nursing and Midwifery team to achieve the strategic and operational goals and key performance indicators within a positive culturally mature workplace.
  • Lead the strategic advice, coordination and development of policy, regulation and guidelines for professional nursing and midwifery programs and initiatives that directly support the successful achievements of the Mental Health and AOD Service.
  • Provide authoritative strategic leadership and advice that influences contemporary nursing/midwifery practice and health care delivery across the Mental Health and AOD Service.
