Settle Well is a holistic, school-based program for young refugees and asylum seekers aged between 15 and 20 years old, at risk of disengagement from school and community life.


CatholicCare Victoria and Settle Well will deliver the EAL Homework Group for VCAL & VCE Students at Northern Bay College (NBC), Geelong.

The study group is intended for students in Year 11 and 12, from recently arrived refugee/CALD backgrounds, who are in need of additional education support because of limited English language skills, disrupted previous education experience and possible trauma triggers due to their refugee journey.


Specifically, the position is responsible for:

  • working closely with Settle Well Coordinator to plan, establishing and reviewing the running of the Homework Group each week during School Term
- ensuring all relevant client data is accurately and timely entered into Client Management System (Penelope) for internal and external reporting purposes
- engaging with Centre for Multicultural Youth and Northern Bay College staff for the training of Volunteer Tutors on culturally responsive practice and strategies to support EAL students.

To be considered for this position, applicants require:

  • tertiary qualifications in social work, education, youth work or similar
- experience in engaging with young people from CALD backgrounds
- experience liaising with multiple service providers to engage and support clients.
