Your role The Insights, Analysis & Research (FACSIAR) directorate is the reporting, analytical and evidence arm of the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).

We are a diverse and multi-disciplinary team, who, collectively, are experts in operational reporting and the application of research, statistics, analysis and the evaluation of programs in the human services sector.

The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is the lead agency under the Stronger Communities Cluster.

DCJ works to enable everyone's right to access justice and help for families through early intervention and inclusion, with benefits for the whole community.

Stronger Communities is focussed on achieving safe, just, inclusive and resilient communities by providing services that are effective and responsive to community needs.

For the first time, the creation of DCJ and Stronger Communities provides an opportunity to focus on prevention and early intervention across both the social welfare and justice systems.

What you'll do The Senior Data Governance Officer is responsible for the day-to-day activities associated with undertaking data governance, data linkage and reporting initiatives that inform and improve DCJ-wide policy development, service reform and client outcomes and help deliver the objectives of DCJ and the NSW Government.

As part of a small team reporting to the Manager, you will: Assist in the development and implementation of data governance policies and guidelines to ensure analysis, reporting, evaluation, and research activities comply with legislative and regulatory requirements and align with data governance best practices.

Provide secretariate support to committee's responsible for data governance within FACSIAR.
Undertake a range of data governance processes for key linked data assets and research projects.

This includes managing cross-government agreements such as Mo Us, ethics processes, and providing advice on the development of public interest directions and/or privacy codes of practice to support strategic data linkage activities.

Provide advice and support across DCJ Divisions, other government agencies and non-government stakeholders on sharing unit record data including data governance, privacy and security considerations, interpretation of results/data and disclosure of data.

What we're looking for Essential requirements of the role: Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

In addition to meeting the essential requirements, the successful candidate must demonstrate strong capabilities in: Demonstrate knowledge and experience in data governance, data privacy and data security Good knowledge of NSW privacy legislation and information security policies Good communications skills with the demonstrated ability to prepare high quality briefs and policy and guideline papers in response to Ministerial, Cabinet or other requests Good presentation skills and the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across a range of stakeholders including other DCJ Divisions, state and Commonwealth agencies, academics/researchers and other organisations.

Demonstrated strong project management and organisational skills, including monitoring and reporting on project plans, milestones and deliverables.
