The Building Projects Directorate within the Infrastructure Delivery Division provides advisory and management services to assist State government agencies manage the construction, replacement, refurbishment or demolition of buildings, office accommodation and government employee housing.

The Opportunity

The role will lead in identifying and resolving significant project risks, implementing innovative solutions, and ensuring technical and commercial excellence through the formulation and implementation of project plans and operational frameworks to deliver a program of works.

About You
The We're looking for multiple experienced project / program management specialists to join our Building Projects Directorate leadership team and oversee a team of project management professionals.

The roles involve a wide range of activities associated with ensuring successful management of complex social infrastructure building projects aligned with agency and whole of government strategies, policies and priorities.

In leading the management and delivery of building projects and client agency programs, these roles will oversees multiple project management teams who ensure comprehensive building project/program advice and planning, and undertake a procurement role, including preparation of contract documentation, for the client agencies. This includes critical project-related functions such as scheduling, reporting, and financial management.

Activities include determining objectives and quality standards, influencing and motivating project teams, overseeing major building works contracts, and administering contract-related services.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in leading and delivering major and/or politically sensitive building projects, including managing significant budgets and contracts.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various forms of General Conditions of Contract.

Requirements
Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or relevant experience in a similar role and in an agency of similar size and complexity highly regarded.

Special Conditions
The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
