About the role:

The Deputy Principal of Diverse Learning is directly responsible to the Principal for the effective operation, development and review of school systems, community identity, productive partnerships and outcomes for students with diverse learning needs.

They will drive a collaborative culture of learning in order to lead staff to develop their efficacy and autonomy in working with and progressing young people with varying ways of working.

The Deputy Principal needs to articulate a clear and inspiring vision of the school's inclusion framework and ensure that it's implementation is strategically effective and operationally efficient.


Essential Duties and Skills:
The successful applicant should have experience in the following:

  • Students with disability human resource allocation
  • Tier 3 student and family intervention, restrictive practice policy and procedures
  • NCCD
  • Oversight of staff absence and supervisions for the Diverse Learning faculty
  • Professional development for all staff relevant to Diverse Learners
  • Year 6 transition
  • AARA's tracking and organisation
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant departmental policy and legislation associated with Diverse Learners
The preferred start date is 5th June 2023, however, is negotiable with the successful applicant

Centenary Heights SHS is a school of around 1800 students, located at Toowoomba; approximately 90 minutes from Brisbane.

You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:

  • Assist the Principal to lead the school community through the school special education program (SEP) or early childhood development program (ECDP) to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Deputise for the Principal when required.
  • Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
  • Be futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students with disability.
  • Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the SEP/ECDP to achieve goals.
