This is a full-time position, working Monday - Friday, 9.00am - 5.30pm initially contracted until February 2023 but there could be an opportunity to extend.

They offer a flexible hybrid work model, 2/3 days in the office & the rest from home. IT equipment will be provided by the council.

Your key responsibilities include

  • Manage employee relations matters and initiatives that align with organisational strategy, enhances the organisations capability, and are delivered in a way that is engaging and effective with mínimal IR disruption.
  • Manage the content, delivery, future development and implementation of ER, IR, people management strategy, frameworks and programs, policy, procedure, guidelines, and enterprise agreement negotiations.
  • Lead and/or participate in projects that investigate ways to improve people management activities; respond to feedback and deliver strategic initiatives designed to provide service excellence.
  • Undertake appropriate research to benchmark against leading edge ER and IR initiatives in other Councils and in public and private sector organisations
  • Work collaboratively with the Manager People & Culture and Business Partners and act as a coach, mentor, and adviser to the P&C team to build credibility, capability, and confidence in relation to ER and IR.

You will have the following:

  • Experience working in a unionised environment, with the ability to support the negotiation of Enterprise Agreements and manage and resolve complaints
  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or demonstrated success in a similar role
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to establish productive relationships with key stakeholders across all levels of Council including Unions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and able to produce clear, concise correspondence
  • Strong research, conceptual and analytical skills combined with experience in policy/procedure development and transferring research to practical outcomes
