The Business Banking (BB) Financial Crime Risk and Control team sits within BB Central Control Office (CCO).


The BB Financial Crime Risk and Control (BB FC CCO) team is responsible for the management of our Financial Crime (FC) risks within BB and compliance to FC obligations.

You will be working with various Line 1 risk teams within the BB Line of Businesses (LoBs) and Financial Crime Compliance (Line 2) team to collectively manage the FC risk across BB.

In this role, you will support BB and other Line 1 Risk teams in managing their FC risks and complying with FC obligations, by:

  • Providing advice/guidance in relation to FC matters, across all three pillars (AML/CTF, Sanctions and ABC);
  • Providing support for all Customer Due Diligence matters, specialised FC reviews for BB customers and risk management activities;
  • Supporting the business and stakeholders with implementation of FCC guidance changes
This position will lead and execute a range of Financial Crime initiatives and provide advice and support to BB.

You will be working with various L1 risk teams and Financial Crime Compliance (L2) team to collectively manage the FC risk across BB.


On any given day, you will:

  • Providing advice/guidance in relation to FC matters, across all three pillars (AML/CTF, Sanctions and ABC), to the business as well as various streams of the Group Program of Action and relevant FC Operations teams;
  • Providing support for all Customer Due Diligence activity, including conducting complex FC investigations to support BB in managing their FC risks
  • Completing full FC reviews for new to bank customers including due diligence over customers operating in high risk industries, and various ad hoc reviews on customers with FC concerns
  • Lead and execute a range of initiatives to identify, mitigate, and/or effectively manage financial risk across customer, and downstream processes whilst ensuring customer experiences are optimized;
  • Contribute to process efficiency and productivity by identifying new opportunities to improve processes, reduce risks and improve financial crime compliance;
  • Supporting the business with implementation of FCC guidance changes relating to FC obligations
We'd love to hear from people who have

  • Solid experience in Financial Crime, AML/CTF, Sanctions, ABC role
  • Working knowledge of financial crime and compliance frameworks including demonstrable experience with risk in change, control design and assessment, issues and incident, Risk and Control Self-Assessment, Compliance Self-Assessment
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, ability to dissect complex problems to understand root causes and come up with wellbalanced solutions
  • Welldeveloped written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate complex issues into simple concepts
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels and build strong working relationships
  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Finance or related Financial Crime or Risk Management certifications
