Job Description Summary


The Laboratory Automation and IT Specialist is responsible for the project plan deliverables for the implementation life cycle (pre-installation, site planning, customer interfacing/change management, LIS connectivity and network connectivity middleware products).

This role is key to the success of the Lab Automation strategy and is required to collaborate with our customers to configure the system to ensure a smooth and efficient implementation.

This individual will also be responsible to provide customer training for the BD Kiestra and BD COR platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preimplementation activities including support of the sales process, preinstall meetings, assess customer readiness for LIS interface communication, network security and connectivity.
  • Contribute to the development of an effective implementation process plan outlining to ensure timely delivery of client projects, aligned with the planning agreements.
  • Execute the technical and organizational implementation programs for clients using various methods (LEAN, change management etc). Ensure achievement of performance and instrument uptime guarantees written into contracts based on initial assessment.
  • Lead implementation of LIS connectivity and customization of the software to the customers' existing and unique laboratory setting/system
  • Establish achievable customer expectations for implementation of projects both in workflow process and change management transitions with a large focus on the human aspects that are impacted as a result of the change.
  • Lead technical product training and provide onsite support.
  • Perform postimplementation support activities (onsite and remote) including answering questions, troubleshooting and solving problems.


Preferred Requirements- Minimum 5 years experience with implementing and operating microbiology laboratory automation- Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate experience with project management and large scale, complex change management initiatives- Knowledge of Diagnostics Lab Automation products and services- Knowledge of the Microbiology laboratories processes and techniques- IT architecture and development of custom interfaces with LIS- Lean techniques to improve workflow in the laboratory and achieving performance.- Mechatronics, Computer engineering, software engineering and control engineering (advantageous)- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

Must have the ability to explain IT infrastructure and technical details to non-technical stake holders.- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Visio, Excel, Project)- Possess excellent interpersonal skills, solid organizational / prioritization skills and a passion for providing excellent service- Ability to multi-task and be adaptable to changing business environments- Comfortable working in a cross functional dynamic team environment
