Disability Advocacy NSW is part of Advocacy Law Alliance (ALA) and provides high quality social and legal advocacy and support to people in need across NSW, with a commitment to servicing regional and remote communities.

Due to growth, a new position as Area Manager has been created to oversee a portfolio of 5 advocacy operations across NSW based in Newcastle, Central Coast, Taree/Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour and Armidale/Tamworth.

Reporting to the NSW Manager Advocacy and a member of the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for leading, supporting and guiding your team of 5 Regional Managers to ensure service delivery standards are met.

Due to the geographically dispersed teams, we are open to applicants living in Newcastle, Central Coast, Port Macquarie, Taree, Armidale or Tamworth.

About the role


With a focus on best practice, you will provide leadership, support, and guidance to Regional Managers to ensure service delivery standards are met across the state.

Upskilling the Regional Managers people management skills to effectively manage complex HR matters will be key.

You will be providing advice and support on all advocacy programs and complex case matters, ensuring intake and assessment is effectively managed, supporting the development and implementation of regional community engagement plans and maintaining a focus on continuous improvement of the services provided.


Key Duties Include

  • Lead, coach and guide Regional Managers on daytoday delivery of disability advocacy services.
  • Provide support to the Senior Leadership team to develop regional strategic plans
  • Support Regional Managers to achieve high standards of service delivery and meet KPI's, by consistently monitoring performance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • All associated people management duties including annual performance appraisals, recruitment, performance management, and performance reviews.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders in the business to develop professional development activities and resources for the team.
  • Support Regional Managers to develop, implement and monitor local regional community engagement plans and service promotion, with a particular focus on engaging ATSI and CALD communities.

We are looking for an experienced and proactive people leader

Ideally you will have:


Proven experience in a similar leadership role in the disability or community services industry, with proven success in developing a team.- Ability to think strategically about the direction of the service and develop & implement strategies to ensure strategic objectives are met.- Degree Qualifications in Law, Social Work, Social Sciences, Community Services, or related field.- High level understanding of the skills and knowledge required for effective advocacy and case load management.- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and develop rapport with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
