Organisational Context

Women's and Girls' Emergency Centre (WAGEC) is a non-government, not-for profit charitable organisation.

We deliver a range of crisis and medium-term accommodation and support services to women, children, young people, and families who are experiencing, or at risk of homelessness and/or domestic and family violence.


For over 40 years we have been doing this work across the lands of the Gadigal and Wangal people of the Eora Nation (Sydney's inner city and inner west regions), and working in partnership with community, business and government stakeholders.

Program Overview
ACCESS is an established and proven mentoring program developed by the Women's and
Girls' Emergency Centre and launched in 2020.

ACCESS provides pathways to work, training and education opportunities for women in Sydney impacted by homelessness, domestic and family violence, and social disadvantage.

Through one-on-one mentoring and tailored learning opportunities, ACCESS supports women's economic safety and independence. The program aims to support 100 mentoring relationships each year (100 mentors working with
100 mentees).
In its third year ACCESS is demonstrating strong outcomes:

  • 1 in 3 mentees gain employment since starting in ACCESS
  • 1 in 3 mentees have enrolled in training or education since starting in ACCESS, and
  • 9/10 mentees report trust in their mentors


ACCESS also coordinates and delivers a variety of workshops and opportunities, and fosters relationships with local agencies, education providers, community members, and prospective employers.

ACCESS seeks to develop safe employment pathways for women through partnering with corporate and not-for-profit organisations.

Position Purpose
:
ACCESS Community Relationship Officer
The
ACCESS Community Relationship Officer is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with sector community services and promoting the
ACCESS program to internal and external client services.

This role is also responsible for recruiting, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the mentoring and workshop components of the ACCESS Program.

In this role you will be supported by and report to the ACCESS Program Manager.

The core responsibilities of this role are:

1.

Relationship management:
Proactively develop and manage relationships within WAGEC client services and with external partners and stakeholders.
Identity mutually beneficial collaboration opportunities

Mentor recruitment, training and support:
Promote the ACCESS program to sector and corporate partners, internal and external client services to recruit volunteer mentors. Alongside ACCESS Team, deliver mentor training and support spaces. Keep mentors updated on resources and workshops available to mentees

3.

Mentee experience:


building on existing strengths and program guidelines and using insights and feedback from mentees, mentors and client services identify mentee needs.

Based on these needs develop, coordinate and oversee workshops and activity timetable across the organisation and community. Identify sector organisations to partner with for workshop delivery. Match mentee and mentors, support their relationships to completion.

Program evaluation:
alongside ACCESS Program Manager and Evaluation Lead, Conduct ongoing program monitoring and evaluation.
