The core purpose of this position is to work closely with clients and business partners, to support growth initiatives and to improve our insurance proposition for members and clients.


This role includes directly supporting the Head of Growth and Relationship Development with growth and sales activities, and the Executive Manager, Corporate Product Management to transform the insurance product team into a market leading capability delivering best-in-class outcomes for Mercer Super members and clients.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the insurance product management reporting & data analytics function for Mercer Super, ensuring that requirements prescribed by various regulations and prudential standards are adhered to;
  • Contribute to the overall insurance product proposition for Mercer Super and develop initiatives to improve member outcomes, cost management and scale;
  • Support the Product Management Lead with the insurance rerate process, including relevant benchmarking activities required under the Trustee Insurance Management Framework;
  • Lead the process of responding to product related surveys run by various external ratings houses, tender managers and APRA;
  • Maintain a close working knowledge of the insurance market in superannuation, and provide insights and recommendations as to how to best retain our propositions at the forefront of the market; and
  • Other activities as required to support those of the Executive Manager Corporate Product from time to time.
  • Participate in growth opportunity teams, including proposal development and pitches.
  • Initially with a focus on articulating the value of our insurance proposition and designing solutions for particular client situations (eg: insights as to whether standard insurance or tailored insurance would be best for a prospect); and
  • Support delivery of insurance product requirements associated with new business quotes including but not limited to analysis of terms, conditions and premiums;
  • Oversee insurance product installation as a critical part of new Mercer Super client onboarding; and
  • Where appropriate build client executive relationships with insurers who support Mercer Super and assist with the development of wider growth initiatives where an enterprise relationship exists.

What you need to have:

  • Have relevant tertiary qualifications in superannuation, finance, business or a related discipline at MBA level or equivalent.
  • Financial Experience: At least 3 years of consulting experience covering areas of business analysis, financial modelling, commercial solution design
  • Insurance Experience: At least 3 years with insurance arrangements and their oversight, for Australian superannuation funds.
  • Strong knowledge of superannuation/retirement, with deep knowledge and experience with insurance in superannuation in Australia
  • Experience developing commercial solutions.
  • Tertiary qualified
