The opportunity:


This role is responsible for the pricing strategy for the Retail and Partnership business and the delivery of optimal profitable, strategic and innovative pricing solutions for the business.


The role will also provide effective leadership and management of the Retail pricing team to deliver pricing outcomes to achieve growth and profit objectives for the business.


To do this successfully you will:

  • Review and advise on the terms of existing products and contribute to the design of new products
  • Develop and drive the pricing strategy for Retail for new business, inforce and closed products to ensure achievement of company goals
  • Identify, negotiate and influence stakeholders on the optimal profitable, strategic and innovative pricing solutions that will allow AIA Australia to retain and win insurance business
  • Build strong relationships across Product, Distribution, Underwriting, Operations, Risk, Finance and Strategy to ensure the development and maintenance of propositions are compliant, competitive and executed in a timely manner
  • Monitor the market and our competitors with regard to trends, external developments and other initiatives that can benefit our customers and competitive position
  • Lead, recruit, develop, retain and manage the team of 6 direct reports and 7 indirect reports, providing professional guidance and continually developing as a high performing team that is highly engaged and can directly contribute to the positive outcomes of customers and financial success of the business
  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent in Actuarial
  • Fellow of Australian Actuaries Institute or similar international body
  • At least 10 years pricing experience preferably with a background in Life Insurance and/or Financial Services/Insurance including at least 5 years post qualification retail pricing experience preferred
  • Strong customer experience orientation and data driven focus
  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects and stakeholders often with differing objectives
  • Excellent commercial acumen is key
  • Good understanding of capital, profit and value measures and business drivers.
  • Considerable experience in successfully developing, mentoring and managing a team of technical experts in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to lead, influence, negotiate and engage at all levels of the organization
  • Is authentic, resilient and considerate of impact on others. Acts with integrity and is highly autonomous and professional
  • Views the world from a customer's perspective and drives customer led process and system improvements
  • Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Able to lead complex and broad discussions at all levels with clarity and authority
