About the opportunity

  • Permanent, fulltime position
  • Fastpaced role with the maintenance of Council's formal garden and landscape areas
  • Focus on beautification of Council's premier open space areas
  • Involvement in the continuing improvement of the horticultural amenity of our public open space
  • Assist with the development and training of Apprentices.


Council is seeking a highly motivated and appropriately qualified and skilled person to work in a small team environment to undertake the maintenance and landscape improvement works of Council's public open space areas.

You will be assisting the Maintenance crews in the servicing and maintenance our premier passive open space area to ensure a high-level, quality horticultural service is performed and the landscape finish remains safe, attractive and inviting to use to our park visitors.


Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Certificate III Horticulture or equivalent, or satisfactory completion of an indentured Apprenticeship as a Gardener
  • Extensive experience in maintenance of gardens and landscaped areas including annuals, exotic, native, high profile gardens, etc
  • Chemical Application Accreditation
  • Current C class driver's licence.

Desirable:

  • Current MR driver's licence
  • Traffic Controller Implementation Accreditation
  • First Aid Certificate.

Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council's Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,265.47 per week
  • 38hour working week
  • Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
