About the opportunity
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Backhoe Operator to work in our Open Space Maintenance section.


The primary role is to operate Council's backhoe and all other plant and equipment affiliated with public open space maintenance.

You will be required to undertake all tasks associated with public open space maintenance and to maintain Council's assets in an efficient and professional manner in accordance with the established service levels.


Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in excavation works and backhoe operations
  • SafeWork NSW approved frontend loader accreditation
  • SafeWork NSW approved backhoe operator accreditation
  • Extensive experience in all facets of the maintenance of open space public recreational facilities, including sports fields, passive recreation facilities, roadside maintenance, public gardens, etc
  • Class C drivers licence.

Desirable:

  • Chainsaw operation certificate of competence
  • Traffic Controller Implementation accreditation
  • Relevant qualifications in a related field
  • Traffic Controller accreditation
  • Herbicide Application accreditation
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Availability to work rostered overtime as required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Class MR driver's licence.

Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council's Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,222.32 per week
  • 38hour working week
  • Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
