Indigenous Engagement and Access Officer

The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of an organisation dedicated to leading Australia's clean energy transition, building the energy super-highways and enabling nation-building renewable energy projects that will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.
This role is responsible for:
developing trusted relationships with Indigenous communities across TransGrid's major capital works and landholders liaising with Indigenous communities across TransGrid's major capital works and landholders to understand property-specific issues and participating in community engagement activities Coordinating property access and field safety for the project team and contractors to ensure access and acquisition activities are undertaken in a respectful way which minimises disruption to landholders Keeping accurate records of interactions and reporting for land access activitiesThe role will help to foster positive and trusted relationships between TransGrid and our indigenous communities through periods of project development, land access and acquisition, environmental heritage assessment, construction, and leading into maintenance. The role will also support enhancing the cultural awareness of the project team (staff and contractors) and the wider business.
The position will report to the Yura Ngura Indigenous Advisory Manager.
Skills & Experience
Demonstrated understanding of issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Demonstrated ability to critically analyse, inform and develop strategic plans and policies that seek to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Demonstrated ability to build positive and effective working relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and other stakeholders and an ability to facilitate positive and effective community engagement between those groups. Awareness and understanding of corporate communication practices. Ability to work on sensitive community issues Ability to deal effectively with a range of stakeholder and community groups. Excellent analytical skills to assess the impact of issues and provide relevant input in analysis of business needs High level of written and record-keeping skills Cooperative approach to working in a teamR ecognition & Reward
