The Safety Training Coordinator's primary responsibility is to coordinate training with an emphasis on safety for employees and contractors at the Royal Australian Mint.


The Mint's work involves a number of high-risk activities that require staff to be appropriately trained, with up to date and industry specific knowledge and skills.

The Safety Training Coordinator's responsibilities include communicating with employees, managers and training providers to identify safety training needs, developing and maintaining training plans and select training materials, and overseeing the provision of training with ongoing continuous improvement.


The duties of this position include:

  • Developing training programs, which includes a schedule of events and budget projections.

Completing the full training cycle:
a. conducting training needs assessments applicable to specific areas of the Mint and identifying gaps that need to be addressed
b. recommending appropriate training delivery modes (i.e. external provision, internal packages, coordinated-on-the-job, or self-directed learning)
c. marketing available training to employees and providing necessary information about sessions
d. facilitating the delivery of training by coordinating vendors and trainees attendance (both on and off-site)
e. assessing training effectiveness and determining the impact of training on employee skills and KPIs
f. continuously improving service offerings, by gathering feedback from trainers and trainees and carrying forward the program through development.

  • Staying up-to-date on regulatory and external policy requirements (such as relevant mandatory qualifications required by an Australian Government public service entity).
  • Keeping informed on and recommending, new training methods and techniques.
  • Designing, preparing and ordering educational aids and materials for in-house training.
  • Reporting in relevant metrics including delivery, budget, and issues.

Security clearance
This position requires a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
