Student Equity:

The Student Equity Stream within the ANU Student Life team is seeking a pool of casual student staff members (Student Leaders) to assist in the Outreach program and the ANU Explorer Program. The Student Equity Stream focuses on groups who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education, including rural, regional, remote, low-SES, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. We interact with these groups before they access higher education. The program builds aspiration in school students and persons within our partner communities, by meeting the students where they are and supporting them to get where they aspire to be, especially through higher education.

Outreach involves building aspiration in school students and persons within our partner communities. The successful applicants would assist in the design and delivery of activities in our partner communities. The Outreach program includes occasional multi-day travel to regional areas and partners with Regional University Centres to deliver activities at school visits and community events. The suitable candidate will have availability for travel. As this role is for currently enrolled students, travel scheduling accounts for the University calendar.

The ANU Explorer program follows the above aim of enabling aspiration with a focus on individuals with refugee experience. Student Leaders would assist in the design and facilitation of school visits and on campus days. Student leaders will travel to regional areas with the Student Life Officer, Student Equity and deliver activities within the communities. The suitable candidate will be enthusiastic about actively interacting with young people in a school setting to raise aspirations for higher education.

Applicants with lived experience from a traditionally under-represented background are strongly encouraged to apply. This includes rural, regional, remote, low-SES, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and first generation / first in family (if parents/guardians have not attended university or with an Out of Home Care experience). Students with refugee experience are also encouraged to apply.

This role will report to the Student Life Officer, Student Equity.
