About the Role:


Are you ready to take the lead in ensuring compliance, governance, and integrity within the thrilling world of sports? We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Compliance and Governance Manager to join our dynamic team at the NBL.

As the Compliance and Governance Manager, you will work closely with our Legal team to ensure that all NBL competitions, including NBL, NBL1, 3X3, and associated entities (NBL Co), adhere to the relevant set of rules and regulations.

Your expertise will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement and upholding the highest standards of integrity within our competitions.

  • Key Responsibilities:_

Governance

  • In partnership with the Competitions and Programs Team, and in competitions where it is required, manage NBL Co's Salary and Contracting System, including the Injury Waiver System.
  • Where applicable, ensure contracts remain compliant with relevant state and federal laws and oversee compliance by Clubs with the regulations of NBL Co's competitions.
  • Manage NBL Co's Accreditation system.
  • Work closely with the Competitions and Programs Team to ensure ongoing compliance with the NBL Co Rules and Regulations as well as offering support where required on tasks including but not limited to, scheduling, game day support, injury/illness coverage and any other reasonable request from time to time.
  • Establish and maintain a working relationship with Basketball Australia's Integrity Unit, ensuring NBL Co's Competitions and Programs comply with the National Integrity Framework.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of NBL Co policies and procedures.
  • Administer NBL Co's Trustee processes, including managing the Salary Equalization Fund.
  • Gather and review the monthly reports provided by the betting monitoring partner being sure to escalate any issues to senior management when required.

Compliance

  • Oversee an annual Club License Agreement compliance audit.
  • Oversee an annual internal review of NBL Co's compliance with all contracts and licenses held, including but not limited to agreements with Basketball Australia, each of the NBL clubs and each State Sporting Organisations (SSO).
  • Establish a compliance system that allows NBL Co to track its compliance obligations under laws and regulations.
  • Track any compliance issues throughout the year that may impact the compliance of either NBL Co, the clubs or SSO's with NBL Co's stakeholders.

Reporting & Development

  • Where required, escalate matters to senior management and the inhouse legal department.
  • Manage the NBL Integrity Officer and their associated responsibilities.
  • In partnership with senior management, develop and maintain a budget including the monitoring and approval of invoices relevant to this budget.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, law, or a related field or 5+ years of experience in compliance and governance, preferably in the sports industry.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating exceptional organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all compliancerelated matters.
