Energy Studies is an academic discipline within the School of Engineering and Energy.
The Energy Studies team teaches in key areas of renewable and sustainable energy systems, sustainable energy policy and development, energy efficiency, and carbon management at the postgraduate level.
We are a busy academic team that offers postgraduate teaching in a number of qualifications, including Master of Renewable and Sustainable Energy, Graduate Diploma in Energy and Carbon Studies, Graduate Diploma in Energy and the Environment.
We are seeking to register a network of casual tutors and lecturers who are available for teaching in any 2023 or 2024 study term.

Applicants must be able to provide online and face-to-face classes on our campus in Perth and have the right to work in Australia.
Casual teaching roles are an excellent opportunity for academics, postgraduates and professionals in Energy who seek to build a strong and interdisciplinary teaching portfolio in university education.
Energy Studies is one of the longest-running multi-disciplinary tertiary education programs (the Master of Renewable and Sustainable Energy) in Australia: Established in 1989 with over 750 degrees awarded to students from 80 countries.
In order to meet the ambitious international and national decarbonization targets there is rapidly increasing industry demand for people skilled in these disciplines.
The teaching style in Energy focuses on authentic practise-based learning experiences with many workshop-based activities providing the opportunity to develop industry - ready professional skills.
The School prides itself on delivering strong student outcomes and aims to continue its established track record in teaching excellence.
The RoleOur units are often team-taught by a skilled group of academics and practitioners. Successful applicants will work closely with others in the delivery of undergraduate and/or postgraduate energy units.
Successful applicants are expected to:
- Prepare and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate classes in facetoface, online and blended modes.
- Have a thorough knowledge of the topic or skills they are teaching.
- Be able to communicate their knowledge clearly.
- Possess enthusiasm for learning and teaching.
- Work effectively and professionally with others.
- Be encouraging and approachable, treating all students fairly.
- Demonstrate good organizational, communication and presentation skills.
- Meet deadlines.
- Be punctual and come to class prepared.
- Act in accordance with occupational health and safety practices, University policies and procedures, and legislative requirements at all times
- Expertise in the theory and practice of Energy, demonstrated by experience in industry or academia. For example, a completed PhD or Masters qualification, current enrolment in a postgraduate research or coursework degree, and/or equivalent industry experience.
- Ability to teach into priority areas of our programs.
- Commitment to promoting student engagement and retention through teaching and learning.
- Excellent communicative ability in English.
- Excellent problemsolving, time management and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work flexibly and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficient administrative skills to support your academic duties.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and/or research is desirable.
