About Us


Here at Murdoch University, we are a busy academic team that offers Communication Skills units for international undergraduate and postgraduate students across a range of disciplines.

Our units are team-taught by a skilled group of academics and practitioners.

The Role


We are seeking Expressions of Interest for casual academic employment in our Support for Academic Learning in any 2023 or 2024 study term.

Applicants must be able to provide face-to-face classes on our campus in Perth and have the right to work in Australia.

This role works closely with others in the delivery of undergraduate and/or postgraduate Communication Skills units.

You will be expected to:

  • Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate classes in facetoface and blended modes.
  • Thorough knowledge of the skills you are teaching.
  • Able to communicate your knowledge clearly.
  • Possess enthusiasm for learning and teaching.
  • Work effectively and professionally with others.
  • Be encouraging and approachable, treating all students fairly.
  • Organizational, communication and presentation skills.
  • Meet deadlines.
  • Be punctual and come to class prepared.
  • Act in accordance with occupational health and safety practices, University policies and procedures, and legislative requirements at all times.
What you'll bring to this role

  • Expertise in teaching Communication Skills, or relevant area, demonstrated by a completed postgraduate qualification, current enrolment in a postgraduate degree, and/or equivalent industry experience.
  • Evidence of highquality teaching and student engagement in learning.
  • Commitment to promoting student engagement and retention through teaching and learning.
  • Excellent communicative ability in English.
  • Problemsolving, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient administrative skills to support your academic duties.
  • Experience in teaching and/or research is desirable.
