This role is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of projects and programs and/or portfolio of projects, both major (transition/transformation) and BAU (incremental) for all accounts in this vertical. The role will be Canberra based due to our key Federal accounts being based in Canberra, but will also coordinate the state government delivery across the different states.

As the Director of Federal & State Government, Professional Services, you will have ownership for the delivery of successful outcomes in relation to numerous large-scale projects Optus is delivering across a diverse client and technology base. These will either be as part of a new service we are introducing or as additional services to current clients. In addition, you will foster a very close working relationships with many other technologists, product owners, sales people and lines of business.

Your day to day will consist of...

  • Building relationships with clients, as this is a core requirement of the role, as is thinking on your feet to provide clients with ideas that will lead to new opportunities.
  • Ensuring all project deliverables are met on time, to budget and to required quality whilst also ensuring revenue and margin targets are tracked and meet forecast.
  • Engaging with clients at all levels and translating their needs into a complete project delivery solution.
  • Managing a number of Professional Portfolio, Program and Project Managers, as well as dotted line responsibility for the ICT engineers working on projects in the space.

  • You have a raft of capabilities that fall outside of Projects, such as knowledge of how to sell additional services that complement what we are already providing for clients.
  • You can articulate why a particular service or capability is right for a client and can own the conversation about any manner of products or services.
  • You are able to identify where a project should take a new turn, can course correct projects when required and introduce further change or contribute to a client's environment and business.
  • You have managed teams of professionals and are passionate about leading a team dedicated to industry leading performance, and when required mentoring people to achieve their goals.
  • You bring a deep understanding or project financial as well as P&L management for the overall team.
  • Through your career you have collated a wealth of experience in the ICT environment, with a demonstrated history of successful project delivery management experience of a strategic and operational nature.
  • Demonstrate successful track record in building balanced business relationships with vendors.
