Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)

Purpose of the Role:

Working for a company that handles a massive number of bookings and flights may sound challenging, but have you ever considered the scalability and resilience needed to support 150+ airlines, numerous websites, airports, and hotel properties? To put it in perspective, during peak times, Amadeus processes over 17,000 transactions per second. As part of the DBaaS team, you will be providing Oracle database administration expertise and support to applications within Amadeus, ensuring smooth operations and expert assistance in both routine tasks and critical incidents.

As the Oracle Database Administrator (DBA), your role involves maintaining the Oracle database platform to ensure performance, integrity, and security for the applications relying on it. You will collaborate with various teams to enhance database operations and deliver top-notch performance.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deploy database clusters for multi-Terabyte workloads with a focus on high availability and fault tolerance.
  • Oversee storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures, including disaster recovery scenarios.
  • Maintain and upgrade database clusters to meet patch and security standards.
  • Monitor performance and optimize database parameters for an exceptional user experience.
  • Investigate incidents, troubleshoot issues, and ensure continuous operation.
  • Manage databases on-premises and on Microsoft Azure cloud.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Documentation of databases, platform specifications, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with teams to enhance Oracle automation based on operational insights.

Relevant Experience:

  • 5+ years managing Oracle databases in an enterprise environment.
  • Hands-on experience with the latest Oracle engine versions.
  • Expertise in Oracle upgrades and data migration techniques.
  • Proficiency in Linux operating systems, automation, and scripting.
  • Knowledge of release management tools such as Git.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or other public Cloud providers.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse environment.
  • Proactive mindset in issue mitigation.
  • Ability to work in multicultural settings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Relevant certification in databases or programming.
