About the Role


The Research Compliance and Legal Officer is a newly created full time position that will provide support to the Research Governance & Compliance Manager for a variety of the day to day organisational and governance tasks associated with the smooth operation of a medical research institute.

Reporting to the Research Compliance and Legal Manager, a key component of the role is the review of legal agreements for research to ensure that they are completed in an accurate and timely manner whilst minimising exposure to risk.

The role will also assist in the development, performance and maintenance of other compliance responsibilities and obligations of the organisation.


To excel in this role you will have:

  • Formal relevant legal training with at least 5 years contract law experience in a relevant role/s in a medical research institute
  • Working knowledge of Intellectual Property frameworks and legislation
  • Demonstrated high level organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work demands meet deadlines and balance competing tasks
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills in order to negotiate and liaise effectively with a diverse range of staff and other stakeholders
  • Attention to accuracy and detail with the capacity to operate autonomously and be selfmotivated, while remaining a team player
