headspace offers support to young individuals aged 12-25 dealing with mild to moderate mental health issues. The team at headspace Oran Park focuses on improving health and well-being outcomes for youths.

Grand Pacific Health is a not-for-profit primary healthcare organization aiming to provide inclusive and integrated healthcare services to communities in NSW and the ACT. With 340 employees and services across 25 locations, we are dedicated to expanding our reach.

About the role

The Community Engagement Officer plays a key role in promoting and increasing awareness of the services available at headspace Oran Park, including:

  • Organizing community events to encourage early help-seeking behaviors and enhance access for young individuals
  • Ensuring information provided to young people, families, and the community is readily accessible and comprehensible
  • Leading youth engagement activities to foster their participation in GPH headspace initiatives

Working closely with the Service Manager, the Community Engagement Officer will represent the service at community gatherings, establish local partnerships, and integrate headspace Oran Park into the youth health sector.

This is a full-time position, fixed-term until 30 June 2025, with a potential for extension. Employees in full-time roles can enjoy a day off each month.

While primarily based at headspace Oran Park, the role requires working from headspace Liverpool temporarily to deliver outreach services to neighboring communities

We're seeking an individual with:

  1. A degree in a relevant field or substantial experience in community development, health promotion, public health, social sciences, or education
  2. Proven ability to engage with diverse groups, including public speaking tailored to specific audiences
  3. Understanding of the mental health and substance use challenges faced by young individuals
  4. Awareness of the needs of varied communities like Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, CALD, and LGBTQI communities
