About the position


Council's Community Relations Department is looking for a Community Engagement Officer who will be responsible for fostering relationships that enable the Community to be engaged, contribute and explore ideas, influence outcomes and participate in their local Community.


The main responsibilities will include:

  • Developing strategic engagement plans and programs that feature Frankston City Council;
  • Driving innovation in community engagement through the balanced use of new digital content tools and technologies, and inperson engagement techniques;
  • Implementing the Community Engagement framework for the organisation to increase the quality of Council's engagement with the Community, and comply with the Local Government Legislation and modern practices in relation to Community Engagement; and
  • Ensuring that Councils engagement platforms, web pages, collateral and other communication methods are informative and up to date to encourage Community engagement with Council Initiatives.
This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week.

About you

  • Experience in strategically planning, developing, implementing and evaluating complex Community engagement in a multidisciplinary organisation;
  • Experience and/or and understanding of Community engagement responsibilities and practices within local government;
  • The ability to plan, prioritise and influence individual and team performance to achieve business outcomes and targets; and
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to help influence, persuade and/or motivate stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives.
