Youth Worker

About the role
We are looking for Residential Youth Workers / Support Worker.

Your role will help support young people with high to complex needs and behaviours to have a stable, consistent and predictable 'home-like' environment which is therapeutic and safe.

You become the primary carer for young people during your shift.

Your main role is to keep them safe, get to know them whilst teaching life skills to establish a stable consistent routine.


You will be part of a dynamic team, working with the Coordinator and Team Leaders to develop therapeutic trauma informed interventions that will assist the young person with complex issues.

About the role
A day in the role of a Residential Youth Worker will include:

  • Planning, assisting, and engaging in suitable activities with the young person.
  • Being a part of a wider team who work collaboratively to help with young person achieving their personal goals.
  • Promoting good hygiene and good nutrition with young person.
  • Completing daily case notes, admin tasks and incident reports.
  • Must be flexible in availability for sleepovers, weekends, and awake shifts.

  • Passionate about being a part of a young person's life in seeing them achieve their goals, enjoy working one on one with young people in relationshipbased trauma informed manner.

  • Providing interpersonal care to young people and assisting with their daily routines
  • Assisting in domestic tasks, shopping, cleaning, meal prep.
  • Medication administration.
  • Empowering young people to make positive and informed life choices.

Essential Selection Criteria

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, written and team building skills.
  • Able to act with integrity in times of stress.
  • Ability to work within flexible rostering.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Selfmotivation and the ability to work autonomously within the community.
  • A strong understanding of professional and personal boundaries.
  • An aptitude for learning new skills, competencies, and knowledge.
  • A NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and satisfactory National Police Clearance.
  • A current, valid QLD Australian C Class Driver's License and comprehensive car insurance, and registration.
  • A current, valid Working with Children Check.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificates.

Desirable Selection Criteria

  • Certificate IV or higher qualification in
    Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Services, Community Services or similar

  • Hope and Healing Trained
  • Positive Behaviour Support
  • Medication Management
  • It is a requirement of this position to acquire and maintain a Working with Children
  • Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
