The role

An exceptional opportunity for a Junior Designer to join the Politix team. Reporting to the Senior Designer, you will be responsible for assisting to design and develop the Menswear collection within nominated categories (Shirting, Knitwear, Tops, Bottoms & Coats/Jackets). The role is integral to deliver the brand purpose of delivering 'Exceptional Design, Affordable luxury & Best in Class Service' through offering a premium and accessible clothing collection that is on-trend, quality driven and versatile. To be successful in your role you will have achieved sales budgets, gross profit margin targets and key business objectives around sustainability and vendor relationships. You have a creative eye for commercial menswear and a strong knowledge in fabric, fit and construction.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist to Design and develop product in line with the Politix brand strategy that meets customer needs and offers constant innovation for nominated categories and support Senior Designer
  • Work closely with the Senior Designer to identify trends each season specific to the nominated categories
  • Design and develop product in line with the option plan, OTB and margin requirements for nominated category
  • Work with Senior Designer on product design and development prior to range planning
  • Develop and source new fabrications and trims in alignment with seasonal trends, maintaining newness and originality in the nominated categories
  • Manage the approval of all lab dips, trims and fabrics to standards in place for the nominated category with oversight of Senior Designer
  • Prepare all product and information required for pre buys, buys and retail presentations monthly for the nominated categories
  • Ensure that full sets of samples are provided for your nominated categories and handed to the Marketing Co-Ordinator and PR team to maximise exposure in campaign and editorial/social opportunities & E commerce shoot
  • Sign off product shots and product descriptions for all on-line styles specific to your nominated category in conjunction with Designer
  • Achieve sales budgets, intake margins and R.O.S for nominated categories
  • Assess weekly sales reports to determine best sellers, sell throughs and problem styles/coloursin nominated category
  • Complete regular visits to stores to obtain first hand product feedback from customers and team members.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate

  • Technical skills, fabric and/or yarn sourcing and knowledge
  • 3-5 years in a design assistant role
  • Proven understanding of offshore manufacturing
  • Advanced skills in the Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Advanced knowledge of dealing with offshore suppliers
  • Patternmaking understanding and QC experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, having had the experience in presenting to an Executive Team
  • Well developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to work in a potentially rapidly changing environment
  • The ability to prioritise workloads, plan work programs and meet deadlines
