As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland.
The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

Workforce Development engages with our people, to provide support for individual and collective capability development in the areas of leadership and professional development, fairness, equity and inclusion.
This encompasses the development and review of related policies, strategies and programs, that support our people to manage, embrace and enhance workforce performance as part of the QFES Leadership Framework; Fairness, Equity and Inclusion Framework; and Positive Performance Management principles as outlined in section 25A of the Public Service Act 2008.
Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be a key member of the team working closely with team members and stakeholders to provide coordinated administrative and logistics support for a variety of workforce development program activities.
You will assist with the development, review, delivery, maintenance and continuous improvement on a range of programs and initiatives that support individual and collective capabilities in the areas of workforce development, inclusion and diversity.
Key requirementsHighly desirable requirements
- Knowledge and understanding or experience in contemporary online communication, management systems and webbased platforms i.e. Microsoft Office 365 (Teams, SharePoint, Office, Vision
- Knowledge and experience in supporting a range of organisational development programs, including employee surveys, performance management processes, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
- Create appropriate design tools, in consultation with the team, for the development, production and delivery of flexible learning materials, and education and training programs.
- Provide highly professional customerfocused services and liaison with internal and external stakeholders to educate and promote the activities of the team and departmental objectives.
- Undertake administrative activities, including finance, procurement and logistics management for workforce development training and/or workshops to ensure the endtoend process for program deliverables are achieved.
- Prepare or undertake preliminary research for the preparation and development of, and quality assurance of correspondence, briefings and reports, in accordance with departmental requirements and governance.
- Contribute to the review and evaluation of administrative and reporting systems, and provide recommendations in relation to improvements which increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide support with project tasks, including monitoring progress and maintaining logs, resolving issues, delivering practical solutions, and disseminating information which supports business outcomes.
