About the role

It is the purpose of this role to provide statewide strategic direction and leadership in relation to workforce development for Queensland Forensic Mental Health Services (QFMHS).

This includes strategy development and implementation focusing on both the ongoing professional development, education and training needs of existing staff; and the development of future workforce and opportunities to promote recruitment of new staff.

This position will work across the Queensland Forensic Mental Health Service system and will be responsible for both Statewide and regional level workforce development activities.

In terms of technical knowledge, skills and experience and within the context of the responsibilities described above under Key Accountabilities, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated strategic leadership skills and advanced ability to coordinate project initiatives within a complex system of service networks with a range of key stakeholders across government departments
  • Knowledge of the Queensland and National Mental Health Policies and Plans, National Mental Health Standards, Mental Health Act 2016 and the principles and issues of contemporary mental health service delivery
  • Advanced level of professional and clinical skills with extensive knowledge of forensic mental health service provision particularly in community based mental health services.
  • Demonstrated service development skills with an emphasis on integrated service provision including quality assurance, evaluation, service delivery planning and staff training, relevant to the operational and clinical functioning of teams and systems.
