Role:


The role will support the wellbeing and safety of the school community by ensuring the grounds and facilities are maintained to a high standard.

The role will involve a range of scheduled maintenance responsibilities and projects as well as responding to and addressing maintenance and safety needs.

This role reports directly to the Facilities Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Work as a member of the Maintenance Team to ensure the facilities and grounds are maintained to a high standard
  • Develop, implement and monitor a planting and garden maintenance schedule
  • Evaluate and select equipment, materials and plants and make recommendations to senior management.
  • Ensure leave litter is monitored and removed as part of the weekly maintenance schedule during (August-February); twice weekly (March-July)
  • Coordinate the purchase of equipment and materials
  • Respond to maintenance tasks as they are assigned by the Facilities Manager
  • Comply with requirements of scheduled inspections (tree audit, facility audit, asbestos, mechanical equipment
  • Ensure storage areas are in a clean, safe and orderly condition
  • Manage procedures relating to the maintenance and care of gardening equipment
  • Assist with the security of equipment and buildings
  • Ensure work complies with Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and practices
  • Undertake any other duties as directed by the Principal or Facilities Manager

Established in 1919 Dandenong High School is one of the oldest, largest and most culturally diverse secondary schools in the state.
