The Role
Working in the Data Governance Section of the Data Management Branch - Mission Data Division you will have the opportunity to support and/or lead data governance in the delivery of technical and operational roles. Please refer to the duties below and the 'How to Apply' section of this document.

ASD4 Data Officer
The duties include:

  • Contribute to and perform activities as directed, by applying knowledge and experience to utilise analytical tools and techniques to define, structure and solve moderately complex problems and draft reports, documents and correspondence.
  • Provide moderately complex advice on data governance, policy, business and data quality rules by routine analysis of data and interpretation and in compliance with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
  • Understand and apply knowledge of database management systems to provide advice prioritising and progressing work against performance expectations to meet business objectives, while ensuring deadlines which support the ASD activities are met.
  • Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in teamwork, responding under limited direction to meet the expectations of stakeholders on matters of the ASD interest.
ASD5 Data Officer
The duties include:
  • Gather, manage and administer data and meta-data from a variety of sources, ensuring data quality and validity.
  • Understand analytical tools and knowledge of data governance to achieve business outcomes while keeping abreast of domain knowledge, data skills and awareness of data practices, procedures and trends.
  • Responsible for the ethical use of data and developing, interpreting and complying with the ASD policy, regulatory frameworks and data management requirements.
  • Contribute to initiatives to maintain and improve data quality, integrity and validity including use of professional judgement and initiative to recommend alternative courses of action.
  • Accountable for accurate and timely completion of work, sharing own expertise and guiding less experienced employees, through working collaboratively, participating as an effective team member and building and sustaining effective relationships with stakeholders.
ASD6 Data Officer
The duties include:
  • Gather, manage and administer complex data and meta-data from a variety of sources, ensuring data quality and validity, while providing advice on data policy, business and data quality rules.
  • Understand analytical tools and knowledge of data governance to achieve business outcomes while keeping abreast of domain knowledge, data skills and awareness of data practices, procedures and trends.
  • Responsible for the ethical use of data and developing, interpreting and complying with the ASD policy, regulatory frameworks and data management requirements.
  • Responsible for contributing to the management of the risks associated with the use of data including balancing security and privacy against the benefits of collecting and sharing data.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships and negotiate with customers and key stakeholders to deliver tailored complex recommendations and ensure that data repositories are accessible to stakeholders.
  • Represent and advocate for the workgroup and the ASD, using professional judgement and initiative to identify opportunities for continuous data governance improvement, where required.
  • Accountable for accurate and timely completion of work, sharing own expertise with others, leading, guiding and mentoring less experienced employees.
