About the role


As the Economic Development Manager, you will lead Ipswich City Council's Office of Economic Development in the successful and measurable delivery of local business growth, business and investment attraction, industry development, engagement, and advocacy.


Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing direction and modelling effective leadership to shape a positive, safety-first culture that emphasises customer service, collaboration, innovation and accountability.
  • Leading the Economic Development Strategy implementation by delivering on the four pillars People, Place, Prosperity and Partnerships.
  • Leading the Office of Economic Development in the delivery of integrated strategic planning to enable Council to manage strong growth.
  • Leading the Office of Economic Development in building and strengthening local, regional, state, and national government networks and forming strategic partnerships with local business and industry groups to enable and deliver economic development outcomes.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Commercial acumen and business development experience with an understanding of planning and development influences.
  • Demonstrated expertise and leadership in the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of strategies, programs and projects functions within a government or other relevant organisation.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with a proven ability to effectively manage diverse stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes.
  • Management experience and leadership qualities to support and coach positive team outcomes

This is a fixed-term contract with an attractive salary, plus superannuation of up to 12.25%.
