As a Senior Power System Engineer, your primary responsibilities include supporting the connection team in early-stage development, creating high-quality connection application packages, and leading GPS meetings with NSPs and AEMO.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze transmission network data: Conduct preliminary analysis of transmission network data to evaluate connection locations and capacity for early-stage projects
  • Develop Connection Application package: Prepare top-notch Connection Application packages complying with AEMO and NSP regulations
  • Communicate with NSPs and AEMO: Lead discussions and GPS meetings with NSPs and AEMO, and negotiate on relevant performance standards
  • Collaborate with internal teams: Work with internal teams, including project managers, to fulfill grid connection application requirements. Provide grid connection support to other GRS teams, aiding them in understanding connection requirements and timelines
  • Communicate with external stakeholders: Establish and sustain communication with external stakeholders such as AEMO, network service providers, OEM, regulatory bodies, and technical consultants throughout the grid connection process
  • Lead generator registration: Take charge of generator registration and evaluate the impacts of market rule alterations
  • Provide technical guidance for design inputs: Offer technical guidance for design inputs related to grid connection, substations, and collector network aspects of projects
  • Assist operations team: Support the operations team in managing plant transitions and resolving technical issues
  • Develop scope-of-work documents: Create scope-of-work documents and participate in evaluating Generator Performance Standard (GPS) and Connection Application (CA) consultants

Requirements:

Minimum of three years of professional experience, particularly in a similar role within the energy sector


Power System Modeling experience:
Proficiency in PSSE, PSCAD, and Power Factory
Knowledge in Grid Connection
Comprehensive understanding of AEMO grid connection processes, SLDs, operating and performance standards
In-depth knowledge of the National Electricity Market and the National Electricity Rules
Excellent communication skills to engage with internal and external clients effectively, strong negotiation and influencing capabilities
