About the role
The Riverkeeper is a team member of the Parramatta River Catchment Group (PRCG) Secretariat, reporting to the PRCG Coordinator. The PRCG is hosted by Inner West Council, which employs the Secretariat staff. The Riverkeeper role is partially funded by a Local Landcare Coordinator grant from Greater Sydney Landcare.

The PRCG Riverkeeper reports to and works closely with the PRCG Coordinator to undertake projects which remediate and maintain the health of the river and its foreshores.

The Riverkeeper is responsible for establishing and supporting a network of community volunteers, ambassadors, partner organisations and projects to assist the PRCG vision for the Parramatta River.

The Riverkeeper participates actively in PRCG meetings and network activities and is part of a broader community of practice, within a supportive Landcare network.

The Riverkeeper program focusses on building, supporting and connecting community and council activities across the catchment, and where land management responsibility is confusing or complex or is otherwise not well supported by other
government initiatives.

The Riverkeeper program forms a key part of the Our Living River initiative, both at a strategy and project level, and in securing ongoing support from critical partners.
