Job Description

About the Role

The Inventory Accountant is a key player in ensuring accurate and efficient inventory management systems and processes. This role is crucial in supporting the business by overseeing stock management and enhancing internal operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining precise and current records of inventory transactions
  • Coordinating and supervising routine physical inventory counts
  • Developing and managing cost accounting processes and systems
  • Identifying and resolving discrepancies in inventory records
  • Conducting variance analysis
  • Evaluating and addressing obsolescence
  • Establishing and implementing inventory control procedures
  • Ensuring compliance with internal controls related to inventory management
  • Preparing and analyzing inventory-related items in financial statements
  • Calculating accurate inventory costing using various methods
  • Compiling detailed cost reports and financial analysis for management
  • Facilitating timely month-end and year-end closing processes

Qualifications and Experience

To succeed in this role, you should:

  • Have relevant experience in inventory control within a dynamic manufacturing environment
  • Possess a strong grasp of Accounting Standards and their application to inventory management
  • Demonstrate meticulousness in recording and reconciling inventory data
  • Show the ability to identify and address inventory-related challenges
  • Be adaptable to changing business needs and improvements in inventory management
  • Understand receipting and shipping functions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferably hold a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
