The Clinical Supervisor/Educator is a leadership position responsible for the development and provision of supervision and training services primarily for the clinical staff at the Forensic Disability Clinical Services (FDCS) and more broadly to the staff of Forensic Disability Services.

The FDCS serves several important functions, including clinical assessment and treatment for clients with cognitive disability to address their risk of re-offending and enhance their quality of life at the same time.

The FDCS also deliver a forensic disability mental health service which provides mental health consultation to people with a cognitive disability and history of offending.


The Clinical Supervisor/Educator supports the three FDCS teams (Intensive Residential Treatment Program, Community Residential Treatment/Community Forensic Disability Mental Health Service, Community Team).

Reporting to the Manager of the FDCS, the Clinical Educator will provide individual and group supervision and mentoring to clinical staff (psychologists and social workers) and placement students requiring additional support.

This role does not have line-management responsibilities.

Instead, the Clinical Educator will work collaboratively with the FDCS leadership team to identify training and workforce development initiatives for the team.

This position will plan, develop and deliver evidence-based workforce development and capacity building resources for the FDCS workforce and more broadly the whole Forensic Disability Services, particularly regarding ways of enhancing clients' motivation and readiness to engage with Forensic Disability programs.

The Clinical Educator will carry a small case load to work clinically with more complex client cases.


The Clinical Educator role is suitable for a motivated allied health professional (particularly a psychologist) who would like to make a difference for the workforce working clients with cognitive disability involved in the criminal justice system.

The role is available until 30 June 2023 and there is possibility of role extension. There is sufficient funding for 0.8FTE (4 days a week) and job-sharing opportunities may be considered for suitable applicants. ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

  • Provide individual and group supervision to FDCS staff who require additional support.
  • This role does not have linemanagement responsibilities. Instead, the Clinical Educator will work collaboratively with the FDCS leadership team (i.e., FDCS Manager, FDCS Senior Clinicians, Forensic Disability Prison Transition Advisor and Practice Leader) to identify training and workforce development initiatives for the team.
  • Contribute to the planning, development and delivery of training and workforce development programs for FDCS staff and other internal and external services working with forensic disability clients.
