Manager, National Biosecurity Response Team

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you an emergency management professional seeking to make a real difference in governments response preparedness?

AHA is seeking a Manager for the National Biosecurity Response Team (NBRT) to join the Training Team within the Emergency Preparedness, Animal Health and Biosecurity program area on a full-time basis. The position is initially for a 12 month period.

The Training Team provides education and training services to assist AHA members with their responsibilities in the event of a biosecurity emergency response.

The Manager, National Biosecurity Response Team will work with leaders and colleagues within a small and dynamic team, generating impact by successfully designing and implementing preparedness activities such as training and exercises. Under the direction of the Head of Training, the successful candidate will be responsible for activities such as planning; forecasting and maintaining budgets; reviewing and drafting policies, arrangements, procedures, and reports; stakeholder engagement. The position will involve some travel as part of coordinating and delivering training.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Designing, planning, facilitating and evaluating face to face and virtual preparedness activities (e.g. training programs and exercises)
  • Using your technical, leadership and communication skills to collaborate, develop and maintain relationships and networks within the company and with members and key stakeholders
  • Developing training needs analyses
  • Managing projects, including financial and budget management
  • Ensuring your strong time management and organisational skills enable you to prioritise competing work demands and meet deadlines, whilst showing initiative and flexibility
  • Facilitating and chairing committees and providing meeting secretariat support.

Total remuneration for this position is from $114,750 (including super) and will be commensurate with the successful candidate's level of experience.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience tailoring, implementing and delivering emergency response preparedness programs
  • Previous industry experience with relevant technical skills and leadership skills
  • Well-developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships and networks within the company and with members and key program stakeholders
  • Proven skills in developing training needs analysis and project management
  • Commitment to deliver excellent customer service
  • Strong time management, organisational and financial management skills
  • Ability to show initiative, flexibility, and prioritise competing work demands and meet deadlines
  • Experience providing secretariat services and reporting to committees
  • Fluency and expertise with contemporary office software applications, internet communication tools (e.g. MS Teams) and database administration
  • Relevant vocational emergency management competencies (e.g. exercise and lessons management; AIIMS training; planning or incident management)
  • Experience in the Australian agricultural or biosecurity sector
  • Experience in biosecurity emergency response preparedness (training and exercises)
  • Experience in vocational education and training.
