About the Role

As the Senior Injury Management Consultant you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Provide leadership, guidance and advice to regions and schools on injury management to effect improvements in health, safety and well-being performance. This includes - WorkCover claims management, QSuper claims consultancy management, Absence Management, Workplace Rehabilitation, Medical Deployment, Ill Health Retirement, Reasonable Adjustment.
  • Provide functional and line management to claims officers.
  • Identify and implement injury management strategies to improve health, safety and well-being performance.
  • Monitory injury management data for regional offices and schools to identify trends and develop reports to address issues.
  • Develop, implement and manage appropriate systems for the effective delivery of injury management within a region.
  • Establish a framework for coordinating and coaching school-based Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinators.
  • Develop, implement and deliver injury management training to schools and regional office employees.
  • Monitor compliance with legislation and departmental policy, e.g. all workplaces have a Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator allocated to them and all workplace rehabilitation case management practices comply with departmental policies and the standard for rehabilitation as set out in the Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Regulation 2014.
  • Undertake selected case management of injured or ill employees for an allocated portfolio, in accordance with departmental priorities.
  • Contribute to the development, documentation and implementation of injury management policies, procedures and strategies.

About You

Ideally the successful applicant will:

  • Have high level knowledge of injury management services that align with legislative and key departmental and regional documented priorities and contribute to improved organisational health performance.
  • Demonstrate ability to apply injury management practices and strategies to facilitate appropriate outcomes for injured and ill employees in line with best practice case management and legislative standards for rehabilitation.
  • Thrive as part of a high-performing, innovative Organisational Health team and look for ways to contribute to the teams' operational plans and strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, team members and external stakeholders to achieve effective outcomes within negotiated timeframes.
  • Ability to respond professionally and impartially to the competing demands of clients, managers, health professionals and external agencies in a complex and a changing organisational environment.
  • Demonstrated high level skills in consultation, negotiation, problem solving and presentation, including a demonstrated capacity to prepare high level written reports and correspondence.
