The department called Building Infrastructure Engineering mainly focuses on meeting the current and future space, power, and cooling requirements within Optus Technical Facilities. The **Building Engineering Project Management** team is responsible for delivering short-, medium- and long-term infrastructure efficiently and in a timely manner to support business needs. **This position** is responsible for identifying shortcomings and solutions, obtaining management approval, and implementing chosen solutions. **Planning** for the future infrastructure requirements and service evolution to meet future needs is crucial in this role. To be successful in this role, one needs to foresee future building infrastructure challenges, be creative in finding solutions, gain support for proposed actions, and work with the right vendors for cost-effective delivery.

**What you'll do** Your typical day at Optus:

**Technical Facilities Strategic Plan:** Identify, define, and prioritize infrastructure shortcomings

**Concept Development and Services Design:** Find solutions to address identified shortcomings or customer needs that require changes to infrastructure services

**Commercial Management:** Procure/deliver $5M to $7M or equivalent technical services solutions annually

**Procurement Management:** Adhere to Optus procurement policies, procedures, and approvals

**Technical Facilities Services:** Use a solid understanding of relevant standards, codes, and regulations related to designing and constructing building services in critical areas

**Construction Management:** Ensure constructions meet the approved Annual Operating Plan within budget and Optus build standards

**Construction Delivery:** Lead power, air conditioning, and building constructions within budget and agreed timeframes while meeting Optus build standards.

**Requirements** Skills you need to have:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering and/or construction of critical facilities infrastructure, Telephone Exchanges, or Data Centres
- Proven experience in similar roles in infrastructure, building construction, and CAPEX projects
- Strong commercial management and sourcing skills
- Understanding of Risk Management procedures
- Experience in developing engineering standards
- Ability to exercise independent judgment, set direction, and lead diverse project teams
- Ability to effectively lead employee, contractor, and consultant relationships
- Proficiency in Project Management software
- Experience in contract management
- Experience in developing and following Method of Procedures (MOPs)
