This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2024
Belmont City College (CC) is seeking to employ an enthusiastic, highly motivated, positive, and knowledgeable Education Support teacher.
The successful applicant will be responsible for comprehensive planning, curriculum development, and assessment, all centred on an integrated approach, differentiated to cater to the diverse needs of our students. Moreover, we value educators who display highly effective teaching practices, a strong commitment to self-reflection, and a proactive attitude towards continuous self-improvement.
The successful applicant should be able to work in a team and collaborate with colleagues, to plan curriculum as well as reflect on evidence to inform ongoing practice and the development of teaching and learning programmes, explicit direct instruction and rich learning experiences. It is desired that the suitable applicant will be able to modify curriculum and make adjustments to meet the student's individual needs which may include students with an Intellectual Disability, Autism or complex behaviours. The suitable applicant will ideally embrace the school's commitment to Classroom Management Strategies, and Positive Behaviour Support.
In this role, teachers in an education support environment will have the opportunity to positively lead a team of Education Assistants. Together, they will collaboratively create a safe and nurturing learning environment for our students. We emphasise active engagement with and contribution to the school community. Furthermore, we encourage close collaboration with families, therapists, and external agencies to collectively enhance student outcomes.
Primary School trained teachers are encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant will ideally have prior experience and knowledge in managing challenging behaviours for students with special needs. They should also possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and an interest in working with adolescents with special needs.
Knowledge and experience in the delivery of a variety of tailored programs for special needs students with a focus on numeracy, literacy, life skills and protective behaviours, will be highly regarded.
The successful applicant will ideally be willing to teach at all year levels, be dedicated, and knowledgeable about a range of disabilities and the implementation of strategies to support and enhance individual development in all areas. A strong background in Classroom Management Strategies and Positive Behaviour Support is highly desirable.
The successful applicant should utilise their excellent communication skills to manage class teams and liaise with parents, therapists, and outside agencies to improve student outcomes and create safe and supportive learning environments.

Belmont CC is a public secondary school located in Belmont, six kilometres east of Perth, Western Australia. Our College provides a variety of programs including our A Plus academic excellence program in partnership with the University of Western Australia, a Music Excellence program and an Approved Specialist Program in Contemporary Drama.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
