About the Role:

The Chef plays an integral role reporting to the Home Manager and is accountable for meal preparation, food orders, menu planning, and ensuring dietary requirements are met to a high standard. Additionally, the Chef supervises a team of Food Services Assistants, ensures a superior dining experience, and maintains food safety protocols within the aged care kitchen setting.

About You:

We are looking for a highly organized, dynamic, and self-driven individual with excellent time management skills. You should demonstrate strong teamwork, empathy, and compassion, coupled with previous experience as a Chef in an Aged Care facility. Leadership by example is essential in this role.

To be successful, you should possess:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Commercial Cookery
  • Food Safety/Hygiene Certificate
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Chef in Aged Care
  • Effective teamwork and leadership abilities
  • Friendly demeanor and positive attitude
  • Proven budget management skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Passion for working in aged care
  • Proficiency in documentation and computer skills
  • Knowledge of Aged Care legislation and safety standards
  • Understanding of Hygiene, Food Safety, and audit practices
  • Current police check
  • Triple COVID Vaccination
  • Current Flu Vaccination Certification

Desirable Qualifications:

Familiarity with Aged Care Standards, continuous improvement, accreditation, and ANACC requirements.
