About the Role
ALS Environmental operates a modern laboratory in Melbourne (Springvale) that is equipped with the latest in analytical technology. The business is seeking keen, credentialed Lab Technicians, to become part of a vibrant team that strives to exceed client expectations by delivering quality results on time and by maintaining strong relationships with their clients.

The business has several Casual Roles available across a variety of shifts : day, afternoon & weekend shifts.

Day shifts are from 6am to 2.15pm or afternoon shifts 3pm to 11.15pm. Please advise in your application your preferred shift type and the number of hours you can work each week.

The day to day
The successful applicants will receive training and support in the technical aspects of this and related roles across the laboratory, and will undertake a range of duties including but not limited to the following:

Preparation and analysis of water and soil samples Ensuring preparation and analytical work is conducted in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions. Reporting anomalies in results and sample type/behaviour Organising designated tasks to maximise daily efficiencies Completing tasks within assigned timeframes and to the relevant analysis standard. Operation of sample preparation equipment. Undertaking consumable stocktakes and housekeeping for tasks performed Participating in cross-training to accommodate variable workflow and staff on leave Contributing to a clean, safe and organised lab environment. The ideal candidate must be highly enthusiastic with excellent interpersonal skills and possess the following:
Either TAFE or University qualifications are required. Experience in a high throughput, client-focused environment would be preferred but not essential- ideally in a commercial lab. Attention to detail, self-management and organisational skills Sound judgment and an effective problem-solving approach. Excellent written and interpersonal communications Ability to work well independently or collaboratively in a team. Dedication to good laboratory practices with regard to quality of results and health and safety Flexibility to work public holidays, afternoon and weekend shifts; please indicate your availability in your cover letter Dedication to go the extra mile, be solutions driven and ensure there is no compromise on quality Good chemical knowledge and appreciation of laboratory practices.
