The Role
This is a full-time opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our Soil Preparation team in Springvale, Melbourne. Your main task will be preparing soil samples for testing in our analytical Laboratory. This role is fast-paced and ideal for someone who enjoys working with speed and precision. While laboratory experience is a plus, it is not a must.

This role follows an afternoon shift roster: Tuesday to Saturday (Tuesday to Friday shift from 3pm to 11.15pm and Saturday from 9am to 5.15pm).

The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training and support in the technical aspects of this role and related positions within the Springvale laboratory.

The day to day

  • Preparation of soil samples.
  • Ensuring that preparation and analytical procedures are carried out according to ALS Quality Work Instructions (QWIs).
  • Maximizing daily efficiencies by organizing designated tasks properly.
  • Completing tasks within the set timeframes.
  • Operating sample preparation equipment.
  • Notifying the section supervisor of any anomalies in results or sample behavior.

The Essentials
  • Experience in a client-focused environment, preferably in a commercial laboratory.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and self-management abilities.
  • Sound judgment and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good chemical knowledge and understanding of laboratory best practices.
  • Clear understanding and commitment to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) principles.
